A record, not a test method or certificate

Evidence record only. Not a testing method, safe system of work, certificate, acceptance decision or authority to enter a chamber. No automatic pass or fail is calculated. The competent test team must establish the method, equipment, safe working arrangements and applicable criteria before testing. This page gives no pressure, duration, leakage allowance or other numerical threshold.

Build the working record

Entries stay in this page's memory. They are not stored or uploaded by this tool and are lost when you leave or reload. Download a text copy, print or save as PDF before leaving. Saved copies cannot be imported back into this form. Use role and document references instead of unnecessary personal information.

Key details are prompts, not a certification checklist. Blank, unknown, pending and not applicable mean different things: state the appropriate position explicitly. Long text fields allow 10,000 characters; short fields allow 2,000.

Asset and record identity

Use one record for one defined asset or test section and one test event.

For example, the drawing identifiers at each end of the tested section.

Drawing revision, endpoints, dimensions where relevant and any untested branches or connections.

Enter YYYY-MM-DD where known, or explicitly state Unknown, Pending or Not applicable. Date text is preserved, not validated.

Role or organisation references are enough. Do not enter unnecessary personal information.

Method and controlled criteria

The project specification and competent test team supply these details. This tool supplies no test values.

Record the applicable criteria, units, clause and revision. Unknown criteria stay unresolved.

Refer to the approved method, isolation and safety documents. Do not use this field to devise the test.

Actual readings

Enter the observations from this event, with units and time or sequence. Do not enter the target as if it were a measurement.

Entry numbers show the current order and change when entries move or are removed. Use document references, not these numbers, for cross-references.

Reading 1
Evidence index

Reference original reports, photographs or instrument files. Files are not uploaded or embedded in this record.

Evidence 1
Result and review

Separate the observed result from the appointed reviewer decision. Text in a field is not evidence that an approval exists.

If pending, say pending. Copy the actual decision, not a prediction.

Enter YYYY-MM-DD where known, or explicitly state Unknown, Pending or Not applicable. Date text is preserved, not validated.

For a retest, preserve the earlier record and link to it.

The record has not been checked. No approval is inferred.

Clear all entered values and added entries? This cannot be undone. Save a copy first if needed.

Remove this entry and its entered values? This cannot be undone.

Use one record for one defined test event

An inspection and test plan states what the project intends to check. This worksheet records an individual event: the asset, the method used, what was observed and the evidence supporting the review. It can also document a test that was not started or was aborted. Do not mark a test completed merely because the form contains text.

Identify the tested limits using controlled drawing references and revisions. A result for one section does not establish the condition of an untested branch, connection or adjoining run. State exclusions and deviations so the reviewer can understand the limits of the record.

Keep criteria, readings and decisions separate

Criteria are the project requirements against which results are reviewed. Readings are the actual measured values or observations, with their units and timing. The reviewer decision is a separate entry linked to the person or role with the appropriate authority. The builder performs no technical comparison between those entries.

Add a reading for each relevant parameter or observation. Reference the original instrument output, report or photograph in the evidence index. Entering a file location does not attach the file: retain the originals in the controlled project record system.

Preserve the first result when retesting

If corrective work or a repeat test is needed, keep the original event and its decision. Start a separate record for the retest, linking the previous reference and any non-conformance record. A non-conformance record documents a departure from specified requirements and the actions taken to address it. Do not overwrite an earlier failed or incomplete result with a later one.

Download a text copy, print the current record or use the browser's Save as PDF option. Review the output before filing it, especially the asset limits, units, unentered fields and unresolved actions. The document remains an unsigned working record, not an authenticated certificate.

Sources and limits

  • Water UK Sewerage Sector Guidance, Appendix C, approved version 2.3 (11 November 2023) concerns foul and surface water sewers offered for adoption under the Code for adoption agreements for water and sewerage companies operating wholly or mainly in England. Its testing requirements are not universal rules for every private drain. Confirm the applicable documents, revisions and undertaker requirements for the actual project.
  • HSE introduction to confined spaces explains avoiding entry where possible and the need for assessed controls and emergency arrangements where entry is necessary. This record does not authorise chamber entry or establish that it is safe.

Source scope checked 6 October 2026. This original administrative worksheet does not reproduce a Water UK test form or certify compliance with a standard.
